I found (using google) a datasheet here:

that mentions -AW and -PW versions of the chip. The HF appears
to have a 2KB programmable ROM for the 8042 controller; the
-AW supposedly comes
Did you have the same winbond with award firmware? I'd be interested to
learn if you found a way to work through that.
