Applied your patch on top of linux-next 20200702 and tested on
arm64 and x86_64 devices and the
e model: Freescale Layerscape 2088A RDB Board
while booting Linux mainline 5.7.0 version kernel.
After applying your proposed patch fixed boot problem.
