Yes, that is just what I wanted to say. All of the other cards for which there are Linux drivers are unproblematic (except the ixp, but let's not talk about that). My feeling is that linuxptp and especially the Linux kernel have become important PTP implementations, and that vendors are taking notice. For example, Oregano Systems recently announced that they added Linux PHC support to their PTP stack. I don't want to send the wrong signal to hardware vendors that we are going to bend over backwards to support half baked (= development cost cutting) designs.
