Web Developer / Front-end Developer

Duties 
Work as a part of a large development team (with a tier 1 multinational
software developer) to develop and maintain style sheets (CSS), HTML and
Javascript associated with a web application.
 
Skills 
Strong CSS / HTML development skills
- Ability to manage page layouts through browser resizing
- Ability to extend and evolve CSS to meet the growing needs of a large web
application 
- Strong Javascript development skills
- Ability to develop functional and robust interactive user interface
elements such as rollovers, drop-down menus, date pickers etc.
 
Mid level visual design skills
- Sufficient visual design skills to be able to convert a visual treatment
into a working piece of HTML
- Sufficient visual design skills to mock up user interface elements within
the style dictated by a visual / interaction design guide
 
Consultative skills
- Necessary to liaise with an interstate design team.
- Necessary to advise design team on the technical implications (and
limitations) of certain user interface requirements
- Necessary to advise development team on the back-end implications of
visual design decisions and changes to the CSS model
 
Software 
Dreamweaver (or equivalent) for HTML and CSS
Macromedia Fireworks / Adobe Photoshop to cut-up screen mockups and
implement them in HTML
 
Contract details 
3 ­ 6 month term 
Located in Sydney

Fairfax Digital is  looking for a creative web developer / designer who can
take ownership of the  client-side layer of our flagship editorial websites:
smh.com.au and  theage.com.au.

You will create  web user-interfaces in XHTML and CSS, developing innovative
and creative  technical solutions based on finished Photoshop designs.
Working closely with  the Graphic Design and Application Development teams,
you will be responsible  for the front-end delivery code of our sites. You
will have a strong  understanding and appreciation of interface design,
accessibility, and usability principles.
