Re: [WSG] IE Stops page load
Thanks! This solved the issue! Infact I completely removed the jquery script call (as I no longer needed it). Now I can actually do some real testing in IE and get the layout looking tip top. Thanks again, everyone! D On 8/29/06, Gunlaug Sørtun <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Darren Wood wrote: > http://www.dontcom.com works / displays as expected in FF/Safari but > it goes mental in IE. Someone will probably say that I'm a mental case myself, but anyway. I changed the order of the two first script-links in a local copy, and IE6 started to behave just fine. Can't see any difference in behavior/rendering in any of the other browsers. < nuts! /> Georg -- http://www.gunlaug.no *** List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** *** List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ***

Hi Daren, Could you tell me what approach did you take to developing your page? CSS, etc... P.S. I noticed that your charset is utf-8. My pages are charset=ISO-8859-1. Could that be it? Also, when I save a text document it's in ANSI format. Are you doing the same? Just a guess. Dave. RE: [WSG] IE Stops page load
Hi Darren. I'm taking a shot in the dark here, and if it's not the solution, it may stimulate one from others. I came across a script a while back, and it's used to address cross-browser handling. Here's a link to some info and links: http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2005/04/03/cross-browser-event-handling/ Dave. Re: [WSG] IE Stops page load
Hello Darren, I've seen this before, but than with flash. I think it's a bug in IE. The problem is when your page is loading and you call a js-functie, the loading will abort. Solution is to load you js-functies after your HTML is loaded, you can do that with defer. In you code: src=""http://www.dontcom.com/wp-content/themes/dontcom3.0/js/jquery.js" target="_blank">http://www.dontcom.com/wp-content/themes/dontcom3.0/js /jquery.js"> I hope it works. Re: [WSG] IE Stops page load
Darren Wood wrote: > http://www.dontcom.com works / displays as > expected in FF/Safari but it goes mental in IE Hello Darren, I tested it in IE7 and, yeah, the pages wouldn't even load. I did, however, try it with JavaScript disabled and the page did load. It's not rendering properly and the left-column content is missing, but at least it loaded without error. I didn't detect any JS errors so it's pretty strange. The post pages -- is_single() -- is also messed up in the page rendering; the content is covered by the sidebar. I wish I could tell you more, but that's all I was able to observe. For starters, I would try removing your JavaScripts one at a time as that might help you pinpoint the problem. I suspect one of the scripts are causing a problem, or at least I think that's part of it. Hope this helps. RE: [WSG] IE Stops page load
Hi Darren, Wow - I've never seen that before - my browser half loads the page and then just stops even trying... :) Your (x)html validates and appears fine at a cursory look Maybe fix a few CSS errors : http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css2&warning=2&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dontcom.com%2F And check for any JS things which could be causing IE to barf. Roll on IE7 aye...or maybe not :) Paul *** List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ***
