As for port 8101, the only thing I've ever seen *my* computer use  
it for is TiVo Desktop.

Mmmh - are you using plugins or extensions? I am *extremely* careful 
with those things (just like with widgets). With a lot of them it is not 
exactly clear what they might be doing besides the apparent teaser they 
offer...

Try to unload them one by one - should be possible to identify it then 
(if that really is behind the problem)
