Hi all,
I just received a confirmation from Peter Briggs, the creator and
contact person of CCP4's MapSlicer, that there is no conflict with the
names since that is a utility under the CCP4 project.
I think we are ok with the potential name. The poll is going to be open
for 1 more hour.
Hi Angelos,
My preference for names is:
+1 CartoSlicer (due to less potential for conflict with other projects)
+0 MapSlicer

Hi Petr, OSGeo-Live team, OSGeo Board,
Is our OSGeoLive meeting, we discussed retiring of MapTiler from OSGeoLive.
CCing OSGeo Board in discussion, in case the board wish to comment.
Summary:

distributions

Cameron,
We have also discussed that in order to remove the project, we request that
there is an official source code repository to link to. This way we can
prove that the project was open source and can be forked in the future.
Unfortunately the main repository of the project was recently
Hi all,
First of all I would like to thank Petr for his work on Maptiler. He
has actually spent a lot of unpaid time to develop a tool which is
useful for many users.
Earning a living from open-source is hard - as most people who have
tried will be able to tell you.
Second I would like to point

Hi everybody,
Let me clarify the situation:

unfortunately it failed as an open-source project in my eyes. The software
attracted quite a lot of end users, but no 3rd party developers. There was
