color the bullet points appropriately, or use the black and white version
of the mark as a bullet point?

though, what about also putting a gradute cap

logos where a project has graduated, you could even add the Year it graduted
with some CSS

I rather have it along the proposed family of logos; logo (Star plus OSGeo)
with below 'Incubation Project'.
This is how the designer intended to keep one brand, but with various
differentiations.
