Hi,
I saw that PR #139 has a commit to remove the dpdk pkt I/O from
linux-generic. It is understood very clearly that we will have only
one dpdk pkt I/O, which is from linux-dpdk. My only concern is the
timing (I understand that we had already agreed on timing as well :)).

The concern that I have is, we need to benchmark and optimize
pool/packet/buffer components that we are using from Linux-generic.
Right now, these components will not be used in linux-dpdk. If we
remove linux-generic's dpdk pkt I/O, we may not have an efficient
enough pkt I/O to test these components. Another option could be to
use netmap, but I am not sure how it compares against linux-generic's
pkt I/O. Anyone has more information on this?

My suggestion is to keep linux-generic's dpdk pkt I/O around till we
have at least one ODP native driver using which we can test the above
mentioned components.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you,
Honnappa
