Yes, routes have directions associated to points. They also have a specific 
order. So, as you arrive at one point the route will switch to the next 
point in sequence. Points may also be repeated in a route.
At the moment there's no way to convert checkpoints to routes. I wonder if 
this would be a useful function?

What are the differences between checkpoints and routes?  It looks
like the main difference is that routes have directions associated
with points.  Also, is there a way Loadstone can convert checkpoints
