The jmx-present check supposes that the jmx class files are contained within  
${jmx.jar} (property). There is no reason why that should be the case.

What happens if the ignoresystemclasses attribute is left as is? The only side 
effect I see is building the o.a.log4j.jmx package into log4j.jar which is not 
bad per se.

I don't think you want the Ant project modifying the log4j build.xml file.

In log4j-1.2.8 build.xml at line 122, I changed:
