[ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4NET-19?page=comments#action_59914 ] Nicko Cadell commented on LOG4NET-19: -------------------------------------
CDO support on Windows 2000 may be fragile. However the System.Web.Mail implementation is platfrom provider specific, and it is supported by the platform provider - i.e. Microsoft or Mono. It is beyond the scope of log4net to include a seperate implementation of an SMTP client. It should be possible for 3rd parties to create a seperate assembly that uses a seperate SMTP client (e.g. the GPL http://sourceforge.net/projects/opensmtp-net) to implement their own version of the SmptAppender. > SmtpAppender: Don't use System.Web.Mail > --------------------------------------- > > Key: LOG4NET-19 > URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4NET-19 > Project: Log4net > Type: Improvement > Components: Appenders > Versions: 1.2.9 > Environment: From sourceforge - 609463 > Reporter: Nicko Cadell > > System.Web.Mail depends on CDO, and this is not > always available. It would be useful to use any of the > free SMTP libraries instead. > Anonymous -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/Administrators.jspa - If you want more information on JIRA, or have a bug to report see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira
