Can't you fall back on your previous combination of RH and LTSP?
That way you can hold your presentation on Friday and solve this
nasty, persistent problem afterwards.
An alternative could be to look for online support in the #ltsp

Actually you do not need X on the server,
I have now installed lts 10 times today, trying all diferent combinations,

I have changed the "lts.conf", trying all from "auto" to "XF86_SVGA" etc..
Once today i got the xserver to work. It was when using RH7.1 wit
