Upon further playing... If I use "xdm" instead of "kdm' in the /etc/sysconfig/
displaymanager file I get a login box ( the boaring X one). When I login to
the terminal KDE gives me many crash messages.
I read a post that said to do this in ./kdmrc

I've read before that sometimes that may be enough. This machine only
has 2x72 pin slots. So I tried another machine with 32meg (2x168 pin
slots) then 80meg Same results.
