Ideally I'd like to get it to boot normally again without wiping out

Sure! They make great thin-clients. Let me know if you need them picked up.
I can take them over to Price Busters after I arrange the pickup with Scott.

Hi folks,
I'm new to the list, but I've read a lot of posts related to HOSEF. I
work at the UH Nursing school, and we might be trying to unload a bunch

more). I realize they're a little on the low-spec end, but would an

Mandrake Linux 9.1 has been released. It is totally awesome, and I'm
not even a Mandrake user. Probably the best new feature is the
partition tool can resize both FAT32 (vfat) and NTFS partitions. I
personally keep the Mandrake disk 1 around only for resizing Windows
partitions before installing

Precisely and thanks for the tip. I
Yeah, grepping was the first thing I tried, to no avail. I'll try

True. I should have clarified having a service control script. It
need not exist in /etc/init.d.

It's called an IPEngine. Comes from a company called Brightstar

An embedded device I'm using has a kind of wierd, junky, hacked up,

having is that the rc.local script doesn't seem to be getting called.
in /etc/inittab, there's the following:
