Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Applications by default : remove Cheese

2010-11-22 Thread david
I agree it should be removed due to the Clutter requirement. How
important is pre-installed webcam software? Is an alternative needed or
would the next version not come with webcam software?

this is my first post on this list :D

On the topic of Cheese, even though my computer has a web cam, i never
seem to do anything with it except for video chatting. And don't forget
that some don't even have web cams. It's not really that important imo;
if someone wants it, they can just install it.

Yes, it's not perfect yet. I already have some tests to do, and bugs to
fill (mostly, checking bugs we had with LXDM and see if there are fixed
in lightDM).

First, its upstart config file is not complete and needs some fix.
Please if someone know how to do this, help the author.
Most of the packaging stuff is done, including the upstart script :)

Second, I never got it work correctly with console Kit and some
 authentication thing.
Again, if anyone know how to get it work, please help.
Yes I saw it too, I need to report a bug about it.

Julien Lavergne

I haven't used Tuquito but I agree that a control center would be great for
Lubuntu. I installed lubuntu-control-center and plan on using it in the future
when editing or reviewing settings.

The tuquido control center seems to fancy for me. It reminds me of the
 Windows
XP/Vista Control center with all its category hell. Where you don't
 find
anything so easily. It also requires Webkit as a dependency.
Yes, for advanced users, the categories are annoying :) I always switch
to the more detailed mode when I'm working on XP. But, for beginners, I
think it's easier to categorize and to describe more the options
available.

Also, we already have webkit in Lubuntu (osmo bring it on 10.10).

[Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu removes windows from Grub

2010-11-22 Thread Lee Gold
Hi,

Whenever I install Lubuntu 10.10 w/a windows partition side by side, after the
1st update the windows is gone from the grub menu.

Only happens with Lubuntu and happens consistently.
Will this ever be fixed?

Thanks

Know problem.
Install os-prober 'apt-get install os-prober' then run 'sudo update-grub'.
