[Lubuntu-desktop] WOW Lubuntu!

2012-01-14 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hello Everyone,

amjjawad is back to action yet again :)
I'd like to start my activities with the new Lubuntu Sub Teams by creating
a new project called "WOW Lubuntu". This project has one main target and
aim: reach to as many users as possible.
I for one think that every user who has come across Lubuntu needs to return
the favor to such great system and to do that, he/she can simply JUST TALK
about Lubuntu and SHARE his/her experience/story with someone else.

I believe this is the right time for such move and I think the more we talk
and do for Lubuntu, the more support we shall get.
Lubuntu really deserves that, thus this simple and humble project is a
little pay-back for the great and amazing system (Lubuntu).

Thank you!

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Roadmap for 12.04

2012-01-14 Thread 神癒礁湖
Well, I'm working on it. At the first time I was adapting an already
made theme, but now the theme has been totally reworked from scratch.
The intention is being really clear and sharp, with the contrast and
simplicity in mind. You can check it out (not downloads yet) here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Precise/Ozone

The GTK2 part is almost complete (two controls remining). The GTK3 is
half-done.

[Lubuntu-desktop] Roadmap for 12.04

2012-01-14 Thread Rob Peters
I just started testing 12.04 and my initial impression is that it's
wonderful! What to my surprise, there is now a shortcut option for the
desktop!

I do want to ask [again] one additional thing. The 11.04 theme has been
noted in various posts as being a winner, brilliant, stuning etc. I do
hope this theme will be available as an option on 12.04 and updated to
GTK-3.

The more I see of Lubuntu the more I like it. There are a couple of things
that might make things easier for prospective adopters.

1. Gnome 2 and xubuntu allow a user to create a launcher anywhere on the
desktop without having to build a .desktop file. Gnome 3 dropped this
feature and its a pain. Now, if your going to attract windows users most
everyone's desktop I see is littered with folders and icons.
So, my desire would be to adopt the xubuntu solution that allows for a
right-click on the desk to open a launcher constructor.

2. Searching for files and file content is a big issue for lots of windows
users. I needed to install the gnome-search-tool to do this. An easier
solution?

I know that themes are a very subjective area. For me personally, I
thought the 11.04 default theme was a big winner. The blue panel with
white text was sharp (IMO) along with the box headers. I am not so
impressed with the standards 11.10 theme. So, when you change the theme
form one release to the other can you include the prior theme for people
who don't like the new one.
