Packages will be available in the Lubuntu PPA. Set it by default will be
for the Alpha 3.

Thanks PCMan,

Julien, can we roll a new Alpha with pcmanfm2 as the primary?

Also, I have been doing a lot of testing of other LXDE distro and I
think we are in good shape, we appear to be faster and have a good
application set. The only one that has made me envious was PCLOS LXDE
which someone re-wrote the PCLOS control panel for LXDE
administration.

Thanks, looking forward to more testing.

[Lubuntu-desktop] PCManFM2 0.9.0 alpha + libfm 0.1.0-alpha are released

2010-02-21 Thread PCMan
Hello list,
After endless waiting, here comes the first public tarball release of pcmanfm2.
Don't expect too much. This is an alpha release.

PCManFM2 0.9.0 alpha:
Contains 90% what the old pcmanfm can do, and does it better.
Provides gvfs support and trash can, which are missing in old pcmanfm series.

Libfm 0.1.0 alpha:
The core of pcmanfm2. Can be used by other programs.

Please give it heavy tests. This will be the default file manager in
next generation LXDE.
So quality and usability are extremely important.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for all people involved in the discusion.

The minutes are available here :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/IRC%20Meeting%20February%2020,%202010
I move the TODO items to the 2 teams pages :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/SubTeams/CodingAndPackagingSubTeam
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/SubTeams/TestingSubTeam
I'll have time next week to convert them to proper bugs reports, it

to the config file for chromium: it supports html5, doesnt't it? maybe we
should also activate the youtube- html5-testmode. this should need less ram
than videos in flash.

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Adding HDD software to default programs

2010-02-21 Thread Jo Gerb

I agree with you: gparted, hidden in a menu, would Be the Best Choice .

Best regards,
Jo

Am 20.02.2010 um 23:17 schrieb Sylkis :

Windows XP also has built-in utilities like gparted, but way more
primitive and thus with less capabilities. Still, I've never heard
of anyone accidentally doing damage to his partition on windows
because of that, as the tool is hidden somewhere in the control
panel - same as I belive gparted would be hidden in settings/
administration/whatever menu, so I see no danger in it. And I see no
point in putting there any less-powerful program, as I bet no one
will use it (waste of space and unnecessary load on the image), but
download gparted from repositories - because anyone who will look
for such utility will be aware enough to do that.

2010/2/20 Jo Gerb
I think its not that important if the program is simple. The people
who want to format a Partition of their hdd should get gparted cause
with that they have all possibilities. And people who don't Know
what they are doing shouldnt use the program, otherwise they would
just do sth wrong and erase some data or so. But how to keep These
users away from the program? We all know that a simple warning- sign
would Be ignored. I think if the program looks complicated, many
People just Close the window.
Of course this is not the best thing, but with gparted we would give
the users who know what they do a great hddtool, and we could also
keep the others from causing any damage on their data.

So what do you think?

Best regards,
Jo
