You mean it takes some time to appear after the plymouth screen ? Maybe there is something which is waiting on the boot process. Do you have a bootchart ? pcman, does this keep happening, or just on first re-boot? The first re-boot would be slow. If there is a suspicion that ureadahead may be causing it, one of the devs popped onto the 10.04 test forum to explain how to test if it was the case http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1434502 snip Regards, Phill. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hi, Permission to speak freely? Backups... yeah, well, I'm sure that we instinctively carry them out, but (17:55:05) Vigo: Backupninja is usually on the light side, I am also testing or playing with GUI only packages that could only help others that are transitioning to *nix and learning as they enjoy Computing again. I had a decent chat with Vigo and am sure he will be on again, I've given him some different ones to download (pybackpack etc) and have trials with. I can see his point of having a simple GUI backup system for people. We have hopefully got a couple of months before any decision is taken. It's a long list of possibles, but from purely a support point of view, recommending one and shipping it would be a good idea IMHO. I'd have no problem in mentioning the other available systems in a 'How-To', but please don't make me learn all of them ;-) Regards, Phill. To prepare it, I began to write some blueprints and goals I would like to achieve for the next release. You can see the (kind of) Roadmap on the wiki : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Developers#Maverick Goal n°1 will be to be accepted as an official flavor. My personal goal will be to sync packaging with Debian. But we can set others goals for the next release :-) If you have other ideas or wishes, feel free to reply to the mailing list, or go/connect to the UDS to discuss them :) Any feedbacks from users will be appreciate :-) Regards, Julien Lavergne [1] : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-M ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] marketing
Hi, within my baby forum I have a lubuntu area. The main banner for ubutnu (which is not installed at the moment as I've just installed a new theme, but can be seen here http://www.phillw.net/ (I have clearance from Canonical for that) I request permission to add the 468x60 banner from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork#Web banners as a sub banner for that area, as the http link, i would propose https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu#Introduction to the Lubuntu Desktop project But I'm not sure if you could think of a better link that does just say Direct from server / Torrent, I'd be happy to have it link internally to a posting that explains getting it.
