Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] [lubuntu-desktop] amd64 build of Lubuntu.
On Thu, May 12, 2011 at 10:24 PM, Jonathan Marsden jmars...@fastmail.fmwrote: Agreed, although I'm a little puzzled by it; generally speaking 64bit addressing doesn't get you anything useful until you have 4GB or more of RAM, and most 64bit PC CPUs are multicore; run on that level of PC hardware, the extra overhead of GNOME or Xfce is really not all that noticeable/bad, IMO. . Jonathan It's because some people prefer a lightweight system with a simple UI. I use Lubuntu because it consumes between 1-2 watts less power than the last version of Ubuntu I used. As a result, I can get around 8 hours of battery life out of my dual-core 11.6 laptop with wifi on, listening to music while surfing the web. But I also do a little java/grails development and I want to use a 64-bit IDE. I think Lubuntu has a lot to offer anyone, not just people with low powered machines. That's why there is interest in 64-bit. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Lubuntu-desktop] more updating...expired domain
Hey i dont know if Mario Behling is still part of the team but they are listed as the owner of the lubuntu launchpad page and on there are some lxde links but since the lxde.org domain expired (2 May 2011) then all the other sub-domains went down as well to inlcude: http://lxde.org/ http://lxde.org/http://join.lxde.org/ http://join.lxde.org/http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Category:Packaging#Who http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Category:Packaging#WhoI am not sure if the site just moved elsewhere but all wiki's/launchpad and lubuntu website will need to be updated to reflect this if there are any sites still linking to lxde.org. [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu 11.04 translation errors
Hello, I would like to advice the community of a little problem of translation.Installing the new lubuntu 11.04, if you right-click on the desktopa context menu is shown with Create New... as first rowIn italian this might be Nuovo as it was in the previous version 10.10 I also tried to change the language on loggin-in selecting for example chineseand this row always remains shown in english as Create New...,maybe it can't be translated anymore in the new version 11.04 A second minor thing: I also noticed that if you move the mouse over the shutdownicon on the bottom right a pop-up menu is shown with the label Shutdown, the same of the previous version 10.10 but in my opinion this would bebetter translated as Chiudi. [Lubuntu-desktop] Image files
Hi, I know you had a great UDS, with the kind availabilty of the new area for hosting iso's on, what do wish me to do? As torrent is always preferred, I need to update the wiki areas (especially for the new 11.04 64 bit version). I'm guessing that the new hoster becomes primary direct download site, do you still wish me to be a secondary direct download site? Not answering your question or anything but in regards to the 64 bit .iso, please be sure to note that it is a contributed non-official build wherever it is referenced. Thanks.
