Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Language Packs
Le Friday 22 July 2011 à 00:29 +0100, Phill Whiteside a écrit : Only problem with 11.04 liveusb is that it showed 300 updates available, and it looked like 200 of them were language packs. I was installing them all but eventually ran out of room on my 4gb usb stick. So now only updating chromium and flash (since main purpose is web browsing). It's normal, all langpacks are installed on the live-cd. But it's not really designed to be updated as a liveusb. I think the best solution is to remove all langpacks when you do a liveusb, and only install the ones you want. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] packagekit
Le Thursday 21 July 2011 à 21:20 +0200, 神癒礁湖 (Rafael Laguna) a écrit : Just a suggestion from a reader: includew PackageKit in Lubuntu. It's lighter and faster than Software Center, and has a great GTK interface. I'¡m testing right now and works very fine. What do you think? You mean gnome-packagekit ? Because packagekit is just the daemon (not the GUI). IMO, if we want a nice GUI for software management, we should write a lightweight front-end to software center, so we just have to deal with the front-end, not the backend. Switching to packagekit, we need to deal with both. [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu Alpha 2 cancelled
Hi, Just to confirm that there will be no Alpha 2 of Lubuntu Oneiric. Works are in progress to make it usable. I hope to have an Alpha 3 to test. For the build with Ubuntu ISO build system, we still blocked by technical problems on Canonical side. I'll post when I have more news about it. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] ozone2 update
Le Wednesday 20 July 2011 à 21:08 +0200, 神癒礁湖 (Rafael Laguna) a écrit : Hi, crew. First update for Ozone2. I've corrected a few bugs you observed and another one discovered by myself :) Here's the short list of changes: * gtk2: set progressbar animation to false (not really, progress bars are drawn plain) * gtk2: increased pcmanfm statusbar text size in 2 pixels * gtk3: using Unico engine instead standard (this is experimental, look hasn't changed) * gtk3: solved pink container frames (due to new engine Unico) * panel: smooth light contrast lines There was a n update from Canonical: they updated Unico engine up to version r79. Warning on this if you're testing Ozone2 in Natty, because it's only available on Oneiric repos! Maybe you've already updated this within the last package upgrade if you use Oneiric Alpha 2. As always, uploaded to the wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Oneiric/Ozone Please, report any further errors you may find. Thank you Rafael. For people you want to test it on oneiric, you can use the PPA of Lubuntu dev : ppa:lubuntu-dev/staging (please note that this PPA is for testing only, use it only if you want to report bugs). I found another bug : when you open file-roller, when you clic on Archive (or Edit or View ...), the text can't be read, it's under a white box.
