[Lubuntu-desktop] Testing, and md5sums that vary???

2011-09-02 Thread Jonathan Marsden
On https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing we have a chart that now says
our md5sums for some ISOs vary.

Um. The whole point is that they don't :) For a given ISO image, the
md5sum *must* be the same, or you don't have the same image!

I think maybe someone got lazy and didn't want to add entries for 4 ISOs
(LiveCD i386, LiveCD amd64, AlternateCD i386 abd AlternateCD amd64)? Is
that what "varies" means -- there are four images, each with their own
(non-varying!) md5sum?

Basically, I don't think saying our md5sums vary is helpful... can we
fix this please?

Jonathan

[Lubuntu-desktop] Me, again

2011-09-02 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hi,

as we got the Lubuntu beta 1's out Please appreciate that for me, official
Lubuntu is very new. For those in charge of getting the iso's fixed I will
buy a drink for.

We've have had https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing up as our area for a
while, with the little pause between beta 1 and beta 2, if some of you good
people could have a crawl over it and let me know what I need to alter to
bring in both the QA releases and daily ones. As an aside, I did not see any
apple mac iso's available, they were there earlier under daily builds - Whom
should I ask about that.

(I'm going to murder the Lunbunteer who down loaded & verified the alternate
image whilst I had dinner with my parents :P ) Whilst I am not the 1st to
test things, as an admin I do track them :)

Thank you to all for the kindness you have shown the baby of the family.

Regards,

Phill.

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Is Lubuntu Beta 1 ISO usable??

2011-09-02 Thread Josh Embrey
I think the most accurate answer to the question is the following:

Yes, as a beta, it is to be expected to be functionally stable, however many
bugs may be persistent. These bugs may limit and occasionally break the
functionality of the operating system. This outlook should be taken
whenever you approach a beta. In regards to an operating system, using a
beta release, you may want to do it for the sake of testing, not a
production environment.

Hi,

I've found it stable since pre-alpha. However, please do note the warning
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing
