[Lubuntu-desktop] Software center doesn't think it's connected to internet

2011-11-28 Thread Yorvyk
Anybody any ideas on this problem?

Installed the PPA – software center looks lovely – but that’s about all it
does. Tried to install several different software and all failed stating I was
not connected to the internet when in fact my internet is working perfectly
fine. from

I go to the file ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml and add these lines:

the power button ability again, reinstalling acpid. Is it really removed?
 Does it have heavy dependencies?

I wonder if this software couldn't become default one in Lubuntu.
The actual commes from Gnome and with some dependencies.

I think we don't have a GUI for bluetooth configuration. Blueman seems to
be a good solution (Xubuntu added it for 11.10). But, blueman autostarts a
python applet which is too heavy for Lubuntu. Unless we can disable it
without loosing usefull features, we have to find another solution.

2011-11-28 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hi Pierre,

You welcome!

I had a similar issue and a friend of mine has suggested few steps that
apparently fixed the issue. There you go:

1- gksudo leafpad /etc/pm/config.d/config

2- SUSPEND_MODULES=your_driver

As per this:

*-network
   description: Wireless interface
   physical id: 1
   bus info: usb@1:5
   logical name: wlan1
   serial: 5c:d9:98:9e:57:ae

   configuration: broadcast=yes *driver=r8712u* ip=192.168.1.54
 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bg

SUSPEND_MODULES=*r8712u*

3- Be sure to proofread carefully, save and close leafpad.

If the above steps did not help, please let me know so we can try another
steps.

Sorry but what do you mean by:

Otherwise, Lock Screen After is unchecked...

Sorry for the late reply, I had problems with my Internet Connection (ISP
issue).

Thanks!

Same like Tim, I have the same thing here. However, I don't really care
whether I get a pop up message or not because my PC does NOT shutdown at
all (have tried many thing but it does not shutdown unless I press and hold
 the Power Button).
However, it's good to have such option *BY DEFAULT*!

 Thanks :)

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] power button

2011-11-28 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
I do that every day but because I know what I want to do, I didn't care
about any pop up message that would ask me what do I want?

I have installed Lubuntu 11.10 on Lenovo G570 Core i5 2nd Generation with
4GB RAM. I didn't have the time to play with it but I'm planning too. That
would be my first time to use/try Linux on a Laptop.
I guess I'll need these stuff with the laptop :)
