I need to modify /boot/grub/grub.cfg in lubuntu that I've set up in usb drive.
But I found that it is not possible through lubuntu.
I had to boot up kubuntu to edit it.
What is the equivalent in Lubuntu for 'kdesudo kate' or 'gksudo gedit' ?

ps: my hard drive grub (grub2) that is set to sda (mbr) is from a separate grub
partition, OS- independent and similarly heavily

reminder to go to the OS where the grub is set and do a 'update-grub'
so that it will boot to the new kernel in Lubuntu (otherwise the old
