A suggestion; (although you may or may not think it's acceptable-as mentioned, your baby, I respect.) Perhaps you could leave the thread as-is and any helpful post/articles could be incorproted into the wiki? Just look at the HTML5 capabilities it just beats firefox here with in my view important things just like HTML5 videoplayback (H264 is supported) Google is dropping H264 support: http://blog.chromium.org/2011/01/html-video-codec-support-in-chrome.html or the fact that every browser tab in chromium is running as a different process in a sandbox which makes a crash of one tab not concerning for other tabs. Firefox might do that in the future also, but it costs memory to sandbox each browser tab. And I believe Chromium cheats: when available memory gets too low, tabs begin sharing the same process so it's a bit harder to know what's really going on. All in all I am in flavor of Chromium as its still faster and offers the better features. That's a bit subjective as Firefox also offers unique features: It's possible to run a few hundred tabs in Firefox; the design of Chromium's tabbar makes that much more painful in Chromium. Firefox has a much more powerful addon framework (although Chromium may improve this next year). The user has more control over his data with Firefox Sync than with Google's version. While I'm not a Google-hater, I think it's very important for the free web that Mozilla continues to exist. Since Mozilla is a bit more open than Chromium and multiple steps more open than Android, I think open source fans should consider supporting Firefox if the features are nearly equal, which in my opinion they are. This is why I hope Firefox continues to remain the Ubuntu default browser. Since Lubuntu has different constraints in choosing default apps, I'll let Julien and the Lubuntu devs make their own evaluation. Both browsers are fully supported in Ubuntu (Canonical is looking to hire someone who can help maintain Chromium). If it is a 'runtime' bug i.e. there is an error, not if there is a missing feature, attach the output of lubuntu-software-center in your bug report. Also, try the latest bzr branch release before reporting (currently rev. 77 in the trunk) Found the bug reports. I was searching using centre not center. -- Yorvyk ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp -- Michael Rawson michaelrawso...@gmail.com ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] GSOC - Lubuntu style?
Well, IDK precisely what the GSOC does exactly, I'd like to join in, preferably as a student. I don't know if this helps. I admit it was full of screws up but TWO GREAT THINGS happened in 2011 that changed my history, present and future. In 2011, I found the real purpose and aim of my life that I shall spend my life time ... each year, month, day, minute, second and nano second praying and be very much grateful for that. The Steps that I have made in 2011, unquestionably, the best step I've ever made, period. My one and only love, you have supported me and still do ... you have never let me down and still do ... you have never given up on me and still do ... no words and nothing will express how much I'm grateful to you. *Happy New Love Year to You* 3 *THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING IN MY LIFE* :) In 2011, my interest, activity, understanding and experience in Linux has grown up and it became so obvious how much I like Linux and what I'm capable to do for it. Before that, I used to like everything and anything. Was jumping here and there with no clear aim or purpose. That vanished and faded away the moment I did the second great step in 2011 and joined Lubuntu Team. I've never done something so right like that. I'm quite sure I have finally done the RIGHT step and I shall never regret it. Long story short, I'm the Happiest and the Luckiest man on earth with these two huge achievements and I promise I shall improve that in 2012 :) I'd like to show my appreciation to each and every member of this amazing family ... no doubt Lubuntu is my second family. Thank you and I'm so much proud to be with you :) Special thanks to very special people here: Phill, Julien and Michael, you guys are amazing .. THANK YOU for everything :) May this year be much better for Lubuntu and each one of us ... God bless you all and wish you all the best in the world. Happy New Year :) I have made this little thing ... feel free to share it. I'm really looking forward to Precise Pangolin, LTS or not, and whatever they're going to make of Q (quirky quagger?) I also leave secondary school later this year, so I hope to be taking computing soon to broaden my interest in the topic. Had my hair cut, and it's dropping all over the keyboard, so I'll stop now, but thanks everyone, and I hope you have a very happy new year. Looking very cool. I'm liking the expanded results box now, and the icons. :) I can't get it to build currently, but I'll get moving as soon as I can. Perhaps have a feature like 'open in pcmanfm'? (you might have already implemented that, I'm still using the one built off the second revision. :L ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
