In terms of encrypted home folders, for Ubuntu in general it was not a wise
move to offer it on install, we have access to such systems if we need - but
there are cries of help, periodically, on the support forums for those who
have "messed up" and lost everything.
IMHO, leave them well alone

Never work for me with
No because it causes more bother than its worth. Too many users getting
nonbootable systems then losing data as they can't/won't decrypt their
drives.

On my virtual installation it isn't decrypting my home folder. I need to do
this manually on a tty.
I think it might be a bug in lxdm.
