Probably not.
But next time they drop support for old hardware, they will have to take
Lubuntu audience in consideration.

2011-05-05 Thread Tim Bernhard
Kendal,

I would also like a 64-bit option. I have a dual-core machine and would
love to run 64-bit STS/Eclipse. At the same time, I'm getting between 7-8
hours of run time on my battery. Generally speaking, will 64-bit be more
hungry or more efficient than the same 32-bit OS?

BTW, I like your distro a lot. I gave Peppermint One and Peppermint Ice a
whirl about the same time I tried Lubuntu. I loved all three distros.
Lubuntu was drawing less power than Pepperment or Ubuntu so I stuck with
it. I still recommend Peppermint along with Lubuntu to others. Keep up the
good work.

Tim

Yes, please make an 64 bit ISO! I'll be one of the first to test/use it.

This could also mean that the support for i586 could exist again? This
should maybe notted somewhere for the goals for when Lubuntu become an
official derivative :)

For the time being, I can go ahead and whip up a 64 bit .iso if there is any
interest in me doing so. It shouldn't take but a couple of hours. I have
most of one put together already as I'll need it to build the 64 bit
Peppermint release.

2011-05-05 Thread UndiFineD
The Bittorrent protocol has one downside, not being able to connect
simple users.
the reason for this is are "passive" connections, where the torrent
client is not directly accessible through a tcp port from the
internet.

active connections are those clients that did configure a port to be
addressable from the internet
often that requires to configure a port forward in your home router to
your machine.

you can make 'active - active' connections and 'active - passive' connections

client - port 51413 - internet - port 65530 - client

How do you make Deluge share better? Only when I'm downloaden the uploading
seems to go "fast", but besides that, it seems really slow. Even thou I'm
not online all the time, but should be more than 1.241 ratio. Also I can't
seem to be able to upload with every torrent I've got uploading (8 linux
images), even after setting upload slots to about 20.
Any thoughts to what I need to change would be appreciative. I'm also on IRC
most of the time, so can also be talked to directly.

Also we can distribute Lubuntu better, we get it to their server and so
on. Julian doesnt need to delete previous versions from his personal
website as quota gets full ;)

Good job every one, even the smallest bug report in launchpad counts
what comes for the
Participating in Lubuntu becoming a real buntu derivative.

As well as the expected "publicity and marketing" benefits, at a
technical level we would be able to use the official Ubuntu build
infrastructure for creating our ISOs, and official test setups for
tracking which tests have been done on which builds of Lubuntu.

It should also mean that other developers and packagers within the
Ubuntu world need to "take Lubuntu seriously" and not do anything that
will break Lubuntu (like doubling the amount of calculated disk space
needed just 3 weeks before release, and then not providing any way for
the user to say "I know what I am doing" to get past the disk size check!).

There are probably other benefits too, these are just the things that I
am hopeful for and can remember right now :)
