Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] LightDM Vs LXDM
Aloha Matthew and the rest, I don't run the alpha (or any Lubuntu for that matter) but the switch to LightDM is more than showing the user list. At least for Gnome it means there won't be a second session running and for us it'll mean we've got loads more support for it. That are my 2c at this time of day. And about that not seeing it in the list of session; LightDM or LXDM is the session chooser. with metta, Chris Druif On Sun, Jun 19, 2011 at 16:00, Matthew Young rs.matthewcom.i...@gmail.comwrote: I don't know much about LightDM, but I don't see it in the list of sessions. Having other people doing the job is quite confortable :) The fact that it's working now, doesn't mean it will work in the futur. The display manager is a complex piece of software, with connexions with many others parts, which need a lot of testing. Sharing this will be a advantage. But yes, it's also confortable to just keep LXDM, and hope it will be ok for this cycle. I propose to switch to LightDM for the next alphas, but to confirm the choice before the Beta 1. If we realize it's too much work, we can still go back to LXDM. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] LightDM Vs LXDM
Hiyas, as per what I said - that decision is and should be, with you devs. We all trust you to make the correct decision on that and will back you up 100%. An easy decision it is not, possibly one of the hardest for 11-10. My fear, as explained was that it may be too big a requirement for you to both integrate LightDM (Which we will do) ans also keep LXDM as a fall back for 11-10, as opposed to heading it for 12-04. We can go on for ever discussing this as a team - it is really time the dev team decided. Sorry to put that on you good people, but only you know what is and is not possible. Regards, Phill.
