I have installed it and it lists my scanner but will not scan as it says
scanner not found. There is no saned group created. I’m currently unable
to create this group using Users & Groups as it will not allow me to alter
the system configuration as I’m not allowed :(
Users & Groups gives the same errors under Ubuntu Lucid as well, when I
try to create a ne w group.

I have installed it, the alteration of resolution appears to be under
preferences ? I'll hook up the scanner to-morrow.

Are we any further forward on a deciding on candidates for an image viewer ?

I’ll give it a go as I’ve played with it in Ubuntu Lucid and it is
rather good.

Do you test simple-scan ?
It could be a good candidate for this purpose.

It would appear I wasn’t missing anything, this can’t be done from the
default install. Might it not be a good idea to include something on the
default install to do this.

Xsane, obviously, brain not functioning :)
I think there should be the ability to do this from the standard
install.

Perhaps I didn’t word this quite right. I know how to do it I just
think it should be available firm the default install as it seems like a
short coming to me.

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Scanning and printing graphics, how?

2010-03-16 Thread Phill Whiteside
I'll try xsane tomorrow, I have a scanner that 'main' 10.04 works out of the
box with.

I'll await as to which image viewer is advised for lubuntu that does not
drag in a load of dependencies.

Phill.

install xsane from the repo and you will get it, you may have to setup
drivers etc, similarly you can install gwenview or eog and view / print
images. gwenview is the choice in fluxbuntu.

[Lubuntu-desktop] Scanning and printing graphics, how?

Unless I’m missing something there appears to be no scanning package
installed as standard and no easy way of printing photos.
