Hiyas, It is a known issue that is being investigated and should be fixed on 
the next point release, in the meantime have a read of

 For the current quick work around.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2

I have lubuntu 10.10, grub2 cannot detect my Windows 7 partition and also 
doesn't show it in the start screen.
I solved manually installing "os-prober":

# sudo apt-get install os-prober
# sudo update-grub2

so maybe it should be added to the default installation.
