I started with this list a while back

I use clonezilla, but I was involved in discussions with pybackpack as the
dev was looking to make it GNOME independant.

A quick view on pybackpack:
- The GUI seems good and simple
- there is a depends on brasero, which is problematic :)

Flyback seems also interesting.

But there is so much choice in this area, we really need feedback from users of 
those solutions.
