Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Possible bug in Ubiquity.

2012-01-01 Thread Chris
Hello everyone,

First of Happy New Year to everyone here. May all your dreams come true (or
if you're like me, that you may find a dream to pursuit).

Secondly I'll get more into the bugs I quickly reported on IRC. First of
all there is the feature request of making a link to #lubuntu webchat
page. It'll make it that much more easy to let new users find us. As we are
having our own links to our wiki and launchpad I thought it wouldn't be
that much trouble.

Thirdly there is the real bug. As we've discussed things for development
it was asked by myself if the quick-search of Synaptic could be activated,
but Julien reported it broke down some of his systems. As such we've
decided that users could decide for themselves if they wanted it enabled or
not and put on the Release Notes of Oneiric [1] the steps to do so.
However, ever a clean install on my brothers computer I was (happily)
surprised that the quick-search was enabled by default after everything was
finished (this included the first update round after installation). Seeing
this wasn't part of how it should be, it is considered a bug.

I hope this clears matters.

With metta, Chris

 links

I went to alter one of my web-links to point to SII and it came out like
this when parsed by the browser...

 Original link = http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ubuntu-beginners

Standard from my wiki, I removed ubuntu-beginners and put on sii

  as such http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=sii

This is what it was reported back to me as.

 (01:10:21) phillwuk: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels= (
 http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ubuntu-beginners)sii

Once I was aware I pulled it Xpad and edited it and reposted it, it then
worked fine... I think we just need to be aware of the editing of webchat
 links!

 Regards,

 Phill.

 Hi Boss,

(14:39:41) MrChrisDruif: And the bug is that the quick search is enabled
 again after installation
(14:40:17) MrChrisDruif: Seeing we disabled it, it's a bug.
 (14:40:59) MrChrisDruif: phillw: ^
(14:42:25) phillw: it must pull in the additional lib function.

I am guessing this needs filing against Ubiquity?
