Ian:

If you can get to a tty shell you can try to install apport and then run
the apport command with the LP number of the bug . . . although that
sometimes could get tricky if there is no graphics driver, I'm recalling
from a similar situation where the console launches the browser when you
are trying to use the console to report bugs . . . and if the GUI isn't
working you can't see the browser window to log into LP, then it won't
accept your data to LP . . . . But, might be worth trying??? Other
question is did you run "update/upgrade" after your install?? That
sometimes will fix install issues, the easy way . . . ???

[lubuntu-users] Help! I can't report bugs

2017-10-16 Thread Ian Bruntlett
Hi,

Yesterday I received from qatrac...@stgraber.org a notification of a new
release and that I can get it from here:-
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/383/builds/158971/testcases

I downloaded the iso, created install media on a USB flash drive and ran
into a graphics device driver problem. I reported the problem on
lubuntu-devel and got no reply.

I have tried logging in to Ubuntu One / Launch Pad and that works OK. I can
find info on how to report bugs - everything seems to be about using
apport. Given that I am having hardware problems, running apport usefully
is out of the question.

So, I have a question for you:- How do I report the bug I found? I can find
web pages that discuss bugs but the actual way to report bugs is completely
overlooked.

TIA,

Ian
