Call for Presentations: Submission Deadline EXTENDED to February 27

Denver Marriott City Center, April 13-15

Session proposals for the http://opensfs.org/events/lug-2015/ 13th annual
LustreR User Group (LUG) conference continue to be submitted and we are
thrilled with the caliber of presentations received so far. In an effort to
ensure all participants interested in submitting a proposal have an
opportunity to contribute, the LUG Planning Committee has decided to extend
the presentation submission deadline to Friday, February 27, 2015.

If you or someone you know has undertaken specific Lustre development
challenges, new development features, or edge-case implementations, then we
invite you to share your experience with over 200+ Lustre-focused attendees
at LUG 2015.

This year's event will be held at the Denver Marriott City Center on April
13-15. All LUG presentations will be 30 minutes, with ~20 speaking
opportunities available. To submit an abstract:

*   Visit the  http://opensfs.org/lug-call-for-presentations/ LUG 2015
Call for Presentations Submission web page

*   Only an abstract is required for the submission process;
presentation materials will be requested once abstracts are reviewed and
selected

OpenSFS is also accepting panel discussion topics and poster session
submissions:

* Panel discussions offer a forum for leading developers, vendors,
and users of Lustre to debate future requirements, explore upcoming
enhancements, and share real world best practices. If you'd like to suggest
a topic for a panel discussion - or be part of a panel, please contact
mailto:panel...@opensfs.org ad...@opensfs.org.

*http://opensfs.org/lug-call-for-presentations/ Poster sessions
provide an opportunity for informal, interactive presentation and discussion
of diverse topics related to Lustre technology.

Additional information and event logistics are included on the LUG
http://opensfs.org/events/lug-2015/ event page. We look forward to
receiving your submission!

Please contact mailto:ad...@opensfs.org ad...@opensfs.org if you have any
questions.

Best regards,

OpenSFS LUG Planning Committee

Re: [Lustre-discuss] only root can read/write on new lustre filesystem (Lustre 2.6)

2015-02-04 Thread Jeff Johnson
Does your mds node have access to your non-privileged users/groups identity
data by way of methods like ldap or local files (/etc/passwd, /etc/group,
etc)?

Your clients and mds need to be on the same sheet of music.

if I am root though, it looks fine:

No amount of chmod'ing or chown'ing has worked to resolve this. I know
I've seen this before and I feel like it was in the context of NFS, but I'm
 not finding it.

I could use any help/advice to figure this out.

 Thanks!

Make sure your user authentication is in sync between servers and clients.

I.e. passwd files, etc.

2015-02-04 Thread Wahl, Edward
Normally we only see this kind of thing when directory services aren't working
on the lustre servers.

What form of user directory service are you using? (Passwd, LDAP, yp, etc) Can
you su over to a user on the servers?
