1 - My agreement with the National Library of Scotland was to
only print a small number of copies, and I have printed that
number.
2 - I don't get may requests for this book anymore - maybe one a
year, and it is not worth the hassle to go out and get copies
printed.

I also change my courses1 and 2 when shifting to new tunings, otherwise the
blance is very poor indeed and the lute uncomfortable to play.
Never heard of single second courses either...

I always change the 1st and 2nd strings on my 10 course lute
when tuning down from vieil ton to the new
tunings. I put on some thicker
ones to compensate the loss of tension and an out -of -tune mu

Reminds me of a line from Ray Nurse's LSA lecture on Dowland. He asked how we
would even know whether we played a piece exactly as Dowland intended. Would
Dowland appear in a puff of pink smoke and place a gold star on our lute?
