But I wonder what an accompaniment would be. A 'mere' drone? Can't be
major or minor chords! Random fourths and fifths? A
who knows?, certainly not a lute, which was not yet introduced in France,
if you really want to use a plucked instrument maybe it could be a gittern, a
citole or a psaltery, but there is no evidence
