A third (498) of Telemann's 1400 church cantatas have a part for
'calchedono'. The parts are conventional figured basses but often also have
sections of florid obbligato bass passage work (ie more elaborate than the
bowed bass part).

Not al all. As all (?) renaissance lute players on more than one lute, I
read everything below the 6th course as notes. Depending on the instrument
at hand I
most stressing gig I have ever been: The orientation in the Spanish

I know, and you can even get lost long before that: those rhythms!

Hi all
The Cloisters is an extraordinarily beautiful building created from
several medieval monasteries in Europe, that were brought stone by
stone to this site.
This is something that I cannot understand at all!

Ok, ok! :-)
I just thought nobody anymore believes in Santa Claus in this modern
world of today...
BTW his real name is Joulupukki, in Finnish.
Of course he must exist, there are even videos showing him speaking!! I'll
try and ask him for a new lute, one can never tell...
Thanks and
Buon Natale a tutti!

No. Lutes go acoustically dead after a few years when they contain
insufficient amount of wood (i.e. built too light).
When you grow up you will learn that there is such thing as balance, and
that only an air-lute is indestructable.

I am thinking that there is probably a point where the actual weight/mass of
the instrument plays a significant role in the sound of the instrument. I
am also certian that someone has done some sort of research project full of
charts and graphs demonstrating their point of view/theory.
I'm trying to get in touch with Myles Dempster of Score Conversions. The
email address on his publications, [EMAIL PROTECTED] isn't working.

Of course! And he's drinking Coke all the day... 8^( Nah... I prefer to
believe to the Befana.
For all you that don't live in Italy, she is a very old and proverbially
hugly woman riding a broom in the nightly winter skies,
To which we should add that Befana is cognate with Epiphany, but it is not
known what she was called in the pre-Christian times.
