A fellow here in Toronto is looking for a home for the lute collection of his father who passed away a few years ago. There are four German lutes from 1927-1956, some of which need soundboard cracks fixed and bridges re-attached (and one which needs a case). He was rather hoping he might donate the instruments somewhere and create a student instrument bank in his father's name. The LSA cannot use such old instruments in their rental program, and I'm really having trouble advising this fellow what to do with these instruments. Any ideas out there? Where should such old lutes best go? I hear there is a niche market for things like this from people who don't care about authenticity, but this fellow would rather not sell them unless no better solution is found.
