I'm just wondering, what type of strumming strokes are supposed to be
used in early French baroque, in particular E. Gaultier, La Cascade
(Saizenay MS version).
I'm really trying to learn the piece and I'm not quite sure how I'm
supposed to play the strummed strokes.

How would a strummer strum chords to these tunes composed (arranged?) by
Gervaise in the 1550s?

They are strong melodies (Poulenc arranged some Gervaise dances for
piano - but not these particular tunes). Maybe you just strum a chord
according to the

It's more MacKillop than Corbetta, but you might get something out of it.
Not sure about doing it on the lute, though!
