[LUTE] gig for lutrenist

2011-03-13 Thread cyndiric
Hi I play the lute, but I am not at the public performance level yet. I am in the Washington DC area and would like to hire a good lutenist to play two pieces by Josquin Des Prez, from the 1517 Capirola lute book: Et in Terra and Qui Tollis. Both pieces were arranged for lute based on Josquin's

Has anyone mentioned suede leather? I use a 12 x 18 inch piece of suede (animal origin, not synthetic) on my lap when I sit to play. It keeps the lute from slipping. Suede works well as a thin strip and doesn't slide. The advantage of suede is that it works with period garments as well as

I had many teachers for guitar and one for lute. Only Allan Alexander taught ergonomic and tonal techniques, whereas he others were all about speed and repeating scales (or their own exercises). Only Allan taught simple but real music, rather than children's tunes (for the adult learner).

I was taking voice lessons and the voice teacher recommended that I learn pian so I could accompany myself and learn new pieces. I decided guitar was better, because it was more portable. -Original Message- From: William Samson willsam...@yahoo.co.uk To: Christopher Wilke
