Hi
I play the lute, but I am not at the public performance level yet. I am in the
Washington DC area and would like to hire a good lutenist to play two pieces by
Josquin Des Prez, from the 1517 Capirola lute book: Et in Terra and Qui Tollis.
Both pieces were arranged for lute based on Josquin's
Has anyone mentioned suede leather? I use a 12 x 18 inch piece of suede (animal
origin, not synthetic) on my lap when I sit to play. It keeps the lute from
slipping. Suede works well as a thin strip and doesn't slide. The advantage of

repeating scales (or their own exercises). Only Allan taught simple but real
music, rather than children's tunes (for the adult learner).
I was taking voice lessons and the voice teacher recommended that I learn pian
so I could accompany myself and learn new pieces. I decided guitar was better,
because it was more portable.

Hello
I have an 8 course Yamaha lute, about 30 years old. Have not been able
to play it lately because frets are loose, strings won't stay on etc. I
would like it to have professional attention.
I have called around. Not many folks around here have repaired lutes.

Some senior living facilities encourage residents to join music
ensembles. There is one place we know that has 2 college music students
participate with these ensembles in exchange for room and board. What a
terrific deal!
