I suppose that's just because LXDE team is very small so there was no
extra time and experience with it. You
You're right, but it would be nice to see LXDE adopt some dead
projects like gnome-mplayer and engrampa GTK2, simplify them to the
max and rename them... "lxarchiver", "lxmplayer"
I personally am simplifying gnome-mplayer removing stuff related to
the Gnome desktop and some trivial dependencies
