if you do, then i have no problems. OK, then the problem is in LyX's metrics calculation (and not in Qt's). Of course it is. ParagraphMetrics::singleWidth has to call Paragraph::transformChar for arabic characters. This is however not done if the language is not marked arabic. And, well,
