many thanks for this clarification. However, how do I tell lyx which size and
position I would appreciate to get as default and standard for **all** users? I
tried the preferences dialog, but I did not find an option - and this one would
be local only (?) - for the

directly. However the replies I have gotten - and I really appreciated much -

I would ask once again why the binary 1.1.6pre2 does neither look into

I come up with another question. When I used to compile the older versions of
LyX, the binary always used /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults to look for the file LyX.
Compiling 1.1.6pre2 this is no longer true; even if I explicitly specify
XAPPLRESDIR lyx does not care
