Messages on first use of mathed in a session
The first time I use mathed in a session there can be a noticeable pause (a few seconds) before any character is displayed. When I look at the messages pane I get the attached list of messages. This is with 2.3.1-1 (built and compiled with Qt 5.10.1). Is this expected? Second and later uses of mathed aren't delayed and don't generate the messages. Re: Bold face in LyX
Apparently the bug has been fixed in QT 5.12.0 beta 1: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-69955. So hopefully we'll see an update before long. -chris On Fri, Oct 5, 2018 at 9:06 AM Scott Kostyshak wrote: > Hi Hal, > > On Fri, Oct 05, 2018 at 06:27:26AM -0700, Hal Kierstead wrote: > > All - > > > > I am using LyX 2.2.1-1 on macOS 10.14. > > Do you mean 2.3.1-1? > > > I can no longer distinguish boldface fonts from ordinary fonts in the > LyX document, although they appear correctly in the pdf output. Re: Document Settings dialog partially broken on macos
I've updated my installation of Qt-5.11.2 to the latest available version and the problem has gone. Apparently this was a problem in Qt. Sorry for bothering you about nothing. P. De Visschere On 04/10/2018 20:56, Patrick De Visschere wrote: With “not highlighted” I meant that they are greyed out. When e.g. I select “Vertical space” in “Text Layout” instead of the default “Indentation” the OK, Apply and Reset buttons remain greyed out. Apparently the problem is that the screen is not updated immediately: when I subsequently resize the window (or switch to another app), then the display is shown properly. Since you have no problem with Qt-5.9, I then checked with Qt-5.10.1 and there is no problem with that. So, it seems a problem which occurs with Qt-5.11 only. When making a change to the settings (with the default document class) the buttons (OK, apply, reset) are not highlighted. They seem still active though, so you can click on them. When choosing another document class they become highlighted. The problem is absent in commit azf... (8/7/2018) and present in commit b21... (10/7/2018) and I suppose it's related to the changes in QDialogButtonBox. If I run current master (as of change 7cb0284a3f) on Mac build with Qt 5.9.4 I cannot see what you describe. With highlighted you mean enabled? The buttons get enabled on changing something to the settings. Stephan

It is a simple article class lyx file in German which has a local layout of Format 66 Style XX* LatexType Environment LatexName XX* LabelString "Examples." Margin First_Dynamic LabelType Static Preamble \theoremstyle{definition} \newtheorem*{XX*}{\protect\fred} EndPreamble LangPreamble \providecommand{\fred}{_(YY)} EndLangPreamble BabelPreamble \addto\captions$$lang{\renewcommand{\fred}{_(Case)}} EndBabelPreamble End The png file shows how it looks on the screen. The first question I have is how does lyx manage to translate the LabelString "Examples. " in the local layout to "Beispiele" as shown on the screen? The Customisation documentation says it uses the layouttranslations file, but this word does not exist in this file only "Beispiel". If there is some clever pluralisation then why does it not work with Remark and Remarks? Secondly the \addto\caption in BabelPreamble does not get added to the preamble and so in the final pdf attached the word "Case" is not translated and used as the heading (even though "Case" does exist in layouttranslations). The customisation documentation says that such a line should be added. Is this local to me? Or have I just misunderstood something? I use Ubuntu 16:04 and Lyx 2.3.1 As is often the case I should have read the documentation more closely. It says that BabelPremable is used in Multilingual documents, so if I add an English section as well sure enough I get two \addto\caption lines in the preamble and the display shows both translations. The first question still holds though. Cheers -- Steve Hnizdur
