Offer a "Cancel and Exit" button if exiting when background process running?

2021-05-05 Thread Scott Kostyshak
Currently in 2.4.0dev if we try to exit while a background process is
running, we get the following dialog:

Document could not be closed because it is being processed by LyX.

Riki, thanks to your work on canceling background processes, would it be
easy to add a button like "Cancel and Exit" ?

I can't reproduce. It opens within a second for me.

Cannot put new counter inset in list preamble

2021-05-05 Thread Scott Kostyshak
I'm trying to answer a question here:

https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/595781/enumerate-numbering-without-enumitem-package/595813#595813

I just realized that one cannot insert a counter inside the List
Preamble. To work around that, I had to first create the counter, and
then select it, and then go to Insert > List Preamble.

Should it be possible to insert the counter?

I guess I should have simply patched the local files, right? Or is there a
git command to revert locally only?

I'm no sure what the best practice is. One way might be to create a
separate branch and apply the patches there. And then perhaps there's a way
to disable pushing a new branch?

The clipboard message is still there, but I got this message when starting LyX:

$ invoking IsSupported() failed for remote volume monitor with dbus name
org.gtk.vfs.UDisks2VolumeMonitor:: Le délai d’attente est dépassé
(g-io-error-quark, 24)

I'm not sure that this error has something to do with LyX, but Open File
takes 30s...

I'm no sure what the best practice is. One way might be to create a separate
branch and apply the patches there. And then perhaps there's a way to disable

Good to know, thanks for testing.

In that case, it could be that the fix referenced above actually made
things worse for you. You could try to revert the commit 7a158055 on the
2.3.x branch and see if that makes the terminal message go away for you.
If you do that, please let me know if it helps things because that means
we should fix something.

However, it turns out that I reverted globally instead of locally, sorry.

No problem, we've all done that before.

So I will come back to lyx-2.4.0 with your patches...
