Spellchecking not working

When the spellchecker in invoked it either appears to do nothing or produces a popup stating We reached the end of the document, would you like to continue from the beginning?. The content is not spellchecked regardless of the position of the cursor. I have read a number of recent threads in

Lyx-1.5.2 OSX 10.3.9 PowerPC G4 I have/had the problem with the setting the screen font to a readable size discussed earlier. The work around of restarting lyx seems to do what I want. Every time I quit and sometimes when cut and pasting I get several annoying popups of the form: Could not
