Wolfgang,

Yes, I've used those tools in the past. The last few times I used JabRef I
had no issues so it didn't occur to me to look for duplicates yesterday.

Rich

Andreas,

I regularly use TikZ for (3-D) graphics in LyX. Unfortunately, there is
no built-in editor, so I tend to create the images in TikZ Editor
<https://github.com/fredokun/TikZ-Editor> (or just my favorite text
editor), save the .tex file, and then use Insert -> Child Document ->
Input.

Many of the images for this article
<https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306454917304991> took
the aforementioned approach when preparing the manuscript in LyX.

Hope this helps,
Joel

??????????????????????????????????????????
Please bottom-post. Start your reply here:

Hi Baris,

I would like to include around 20 3D graphics in a math book.

These include: single circular cylinder, two intersecting circular cylinders, double cones, double cones with cutting plane, single-shell and double-shell hyperboloid, elliptical paraboloid, cube, straight lines and planes. All graphics should be displayed in a spatial xyz coordinate system. The spatial images are to be represented in axonometry, more precisely: in a dimetry, i.e. a special axonometry whose axis shortening ratios x: y: z = 1: 0.5: 1. It would be very good if there were a WYSIWYG editor for which no lengthy training period is required.

It should be pictures like they are common in descriptive geometry.

Greetings
Andreas

Hello, what exactly your aim is? Do you want to see the 3D graphics in
Lyx and move around the image within LyX: AFAIK this is not possible
with LyX as Lyx converts all the images to png for viewing.

If you are asking about inserting a 3D image/model into a PDF, this is
smtg else. Tikz is not strong with 3D models and rendering. Currently
the most approachable tool for this is Asymptode

Perhaps I explained badly:
I have two relatively large bib files.
The first one contains (among many others) most of the needed references
for my book.
The second one (among many others) those which are missing in the first
one.
I would like to get those into my document.
But I do not want to have any references of the first one to be replaced
by the same references in the second bib file.

I have in my bibtex generated bibliography at the end of my document
first.bib
second.bib
and hope that the selection of lyx is in this order.
The reason is, that the second bib file contains fields such as abstract
that I do not want in the final bib
Wolfgang
