Because we leave it to the Qt toolkit to interpret your key presses when in
the minibuffer and then deal with the result of those key presses (some
character in an internal Qt encoding.
While we are talking about the input of special characters. Is the
QT-encoding the reason why it isn't possible to insert a €-sign
(EURO-sign)? Because also when I create a bind-file entry
"self-insert €""
it wont work.
