My LyX ceased to speak German

Strange things going on. Since today, my LyX (still 1.1.6) has English menues, it was German before... I cannot remember to have done any changes. The LANG variable is set to de_DE.ISO-8859-1. The bindings file menus-de.bind is still read in. Some settings are still German: When I choose
