If you want to see the layout in its full glory, insert a standard "paragraph" with a hard space (C-space) as a place holder wherever text is destined to go. /Paul

Dear list, right know I'm putting together the structure of my thesis - beginning from chapter down to the individual subsubsections. When you moved it, LyX turns to the default preferences file located within the LyX.app bundle. It will create a new preferences file in ~/ Library/Application Support/LyX/ only if you modify any settings. Bennett

Yup, that made it. The preview appeared. Just one thing, the preferences file doesn't appear again in the ~/Library/Application Support/LyX/ folder after I moved it. There's no problem with this?
